I spent the most fabulous day at Ardkinglas House in Argyll on Tuesday. I was there with creative friends for a wedding themed photo shoot (pro photos coming soon!) but couldn't help taking some picies myself. It was a magical place to spend the day. We had access to the whole house and everywhere you looked there was something beautiful, wether it was in the servants quarters or the lavish main house. The areas not normally accessible to the public were the best. Pealing paint and stacked unhung paintings in the corridors, old industrial style light fittings in the kitchens. Every object, no mater how utilitarian seemed to be hand made decades ago to the highest spec but now showing their age and wear. The plate drying rack next to the kitchen sick looked as though it had dried generations of china. What a massive responsibility the owners must feel to maintain this vast house to its beautifully high standards. If something breaks they couldn't just nip out to ikea to replace it, every detail must be considered.
So, as a jeweller it was the details that caught my eye and just I couldn't help adding some of my jewels.
